For the National Parks Autonomous Adventure Vehicle

hygiene Space

Design a hygiene space in an SAE-4 autonomous vehicle for the Western National Parks in 2035.

NP-AAV is a collaborative project.

I was responsible for the Hygiene space which included:

- The Shower Head

- The Removable Shower Head

- The Dog Wash Station

- The Toilet

- The Bathroom Storage Area

My collaborator was responsible for the interior space which included:

- The Bed Area

- The Seating Area

- The Kitchen

- The “Drivers” Seat Area

- Overall Space Aesthetics

The Location

The National Parks of America’s Southwest are a popular destination for tourists, but propose their own unique and challenging characteristics that will influence the design of the NP-AAV.

Dry • Rocky • Muddy • Loose terrain • Lack of Water • On road and off-road • High density of parks • Wildlife • Shifting terrain • Forests • Lots of Sun • High Heat • Snow • Rock Falls • Dust • Pollen •

• SOS/Emergency • Fire • Sunburn • Heatstroke • Habitat Destruction •

How it Works

How it Works - Shower System

Oasis Recirculating showers take water and filters it to reduce the amount of water you use in a shower.

1. Water comes down through the shower head.

2. Water goes into the drain through the slats in the floor.

3. Water collected runs to the back right corner where it is then pumped to the filter.

4. The filter will filter out any particles and gray water will flow out of the system and into the tank below the vehicle. Any new water needs for the 2L system will be pumped into the filtration system.

5. Once water has been filtered and heated, it will either come back out the shower head or the removable shower head.
